Reflection

I have enjoyed this project as an introduction to coding as I was able to freely experiment with Processing and also with what other people have achieved through the OpenProcessing website. Using the Pattern Maker code was a helpful aid for me to understand how code works and I was able to use this to do quick experiments with colours/transparencies etc. Overall I was happy with my final patterns, particularly when viewed together as a set.

Presentations today were great to see how others interpreted the brief and what they were then able to create through code. My favourite patterns were those which were inspired by well thought out ideas (such as music or illusions) and how they were then able to create quite complex patterns from this. Other patterns that stood out for me were more subtle and simple, not using lots of different colours or shapes. To me this gave more of an emphasis on what that person really wanted to achieve and their designs (while maybe not as bold looking) were more personal and unique.

My goal for the next project is to focus more on my design process, to understand how I personally learn and develop my ideas. I aim to make more regular blog posts - sharing more of what I find inspiring or interesting as I believe this will be useful to go back to when developing my projects. I would also like to try and challenge myself with code - going back to the basic rules and then manipulating these rules while working in with the brief.
